Nesbit West

I enjoy applying my detail-oriented mindset - whether in law, film, music, or sport - to dissect, translate and arrange heaps of data into clear, actionable outcomes. By looking beyond my core area of expertise, I often help connect people, perspectives, and processes in a pragmatic way.
Professional Bio
I am an investment management legal and compliance advisor with over 25 years of experience across private practice and in-house roles. I began my career at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr (Cape Town) and later at Loyens & Loeff (Amsterdam), focusing on third party M&A and investment management advisory. I subsequently held in-house senior legal positions at ABN AMRO (M&A and Equity Capital Markets) and PGGM Investments (investment funds), where I developed a strong commercial and institutional perspective.
Over the past 15 years, I have advised both general partners (GPs) and limited partners (LPs) on fund structuring, formation, launches, and investment activities. My experience includes roles as COO, board advisor, and currently Partner at CapstoneLaw, where I focus on delivering pragmatic, execution-driven solutions in complex investment environments.
I hold a BA.LLB from the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa) and a postgraduate degree in Financial Law from the Grotius Academy (Netherlands).
At Keen, I support the team as their part-time Chief Compliance Officer, ensuring the organisation stays informed about and aligned with current regulatory and industry compliance trends and complies with fund and investor restrictions and requirements.
