Bodyguard.ai Raises €9M Series A

March 10, 2022 - Bodyguard.ai, an online moderation solution that detects and moderates toxic content in real time, has successfully closed a new funding round. The €9 million raise was led by Keen Venture Partners and Ring Capital with existing investor Starquest Capital doubling down on its seed investment. The round was also supported by a large group of business angels like Mike Morhaime (Co-founder and ex-Chairman of Blizzard Entertainment), Djamel Agaoua (ex-CEO of Viber), Adrien Montfort (CTO of Sorare), and Rudy Gobert (3 time NBA Defensive Player of the Year). Bodyguard will use the capital to expand internationally across Europe and the United States.

Bodyguard.ai: a unique technology at the service of people

Since the creation of its free mobile consumer app in 2018, Bodyguard.ai has emerged as the technological solution for fighting online hate. The app protects individuals from hateful comments across twitter, Instagram, Youtube, and more. Using its proprietary AI model, Bodyguard.ai accurately moderates more than 95% of toxic content in real-time (less than 200 milliseconds) and does not require a human moderator to check decisions. To date, the Company has protected more than 700 million people worldwide from threats, racism, misogyny, LGBTQI+phobia, sexual harassment, and “polluting” content (spam, scams, and unwanted ads).

International clients across media (Groupe M6, Brut, Konbini), entertainment (Jellysmack), gaming (Powder) and sports (French Professional Football League) already successfully use and rely on Bodyguard.ai’s software. As up to 40% of users disengage from communities at the first exposure to toxic content, Bodyguard.ai is an essential ally for more than thirty international players who need to protect their communities, employees, and players.

Focus on further internationalisation

With three offices across France and one in Los Angeles, Bodyguard.ai is already well underway in its international expansion strategy. With the opening of an office in London and plans to more than double its workforce in 2022, Bodyguard has the goal of becoming the toxic content moderation solution for the Metaverse within the next 5 years.
